Joyce Moss RN, BA-GS, SANE-A, SANE-P is the Executive Director of the Ft. Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center, a non-profit organization that provides medical forensic exams for sexually assaulted women, men and children in Northeast Indiana. Joyce has been a registered nurse since 1996 and has over 17 years of experience in the field of forensic nursing.
Joyce joined the Ft. Wayne Sexual Assault Treatment Center in 2006. She brings a wide range of experience and expertise from a multitude of business and clinical settings such as neo-natal intensive care, family practice medicine, cardiac telemetry as well as pharmaceutical sales. Prior to moving into the role as executive director, Joyce was responsible for management of all accounting and business procedures, management of the building and grounds, providing patient care and expert testimony when subpoenaed, as well as providing education in many different settings.
Joyce completed her Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner training for Adult, Adolescent and Pediatric patients in 2006 and 2007 respectively. She was awarded her SANE Adult/Adolescent certification designation by the International Association of Forensic Nurses in 2008 after passing the certification examination and the SANE Pediatric certification in 2011. She has maintained dual certification status since then.
Joyce considers caring for patients that have been sexually assaulted a “calling” and has dedicated most of her nursing career in the field of forensic nursing. She is passionate about providing non-judgmental, kind, compassionate care to every patient she sees.
Joyce grew up in Ft. Wayne and is the youngest child of a family of seven. She played volleyball at IPFW then went on to have an extensive career coaching girls volleyball teams of all ages. She earned the State Coach of the Year award in 2002 after taking her team to the state volleyball finals in her first year as a head coach.
